Many people who use this site are students under 18. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how to have it deleted.
Summary
- We collect only what we need to respond to your request.
- We never sell, rent, trade, or give away anyone's information. This includes our partners and other projects run by the same team.
- This site has no advertising, tracking pixels, analytics services, or third-party cookies.
- If you ask us to delete your information, we will do so without asking for a reason.
Information From Forms
When you request an instrument, offer one, invite us to a residence, or sign up to volunteer, we store what you entered: your name, your email, and, if the form asks for them, your phone number, town, school, and instrument. We use it to reply to you and to fulfill your request.
Two emails are sent when you submit: one to us, and a short acknowledgment to you.
Student Volunteer Accounts
We keep your name, your email, and, if you provide them, your school, grade, town, phone number, and instrument. We record the service hours you log and which performances you signed up for.
We do not ask for or store home addresses, dates of birth, or photographs of students in the account system.
If you are under 18, we also record your parent or guardian's name and contact details, whether they have given consent for you to participate, and whether they have given consent for you to appear in photographs. These two permissions are recorded separately.
Photographs
We publish a photo in which a young person can be recognized only if a parent or guardian has given permission. Without permission, we cover the person's face so they cannot be identified. The exception is the director, who is named and pictured on the About page as the project's representative, with a parent's permission.
In photos taken at senior care communities, we cover the faces of all residents. We also remove other identifying details, such as a car's license plate or a name on a delivery label. If you ask us to remove a photo, we will do so the same day.
What We Do Not Do
- No analytics, no advertising, no tracking across other websites.
- This site sets two cookies: one keeps a volunteer signed in, and one remembers for 60 days which student's referral link brought you here, so that student receives credit. Neither requires consent, so we do not show a cookie banner.
- We never post a family's details publicly. Instruments on the public board carry no information about who asked for them.
- We never publish where an instrument came from. That protects the person who gave it.
Storage and Retention
All information is stored in a single database with our web host in the United States. Only project leaders and administrators can access it, each through their own account.
Requests and offers are kept while they are active and for about a year afterward, so we can follow up if we could not help the first time. Volunteer accounts and service-hour records are kept while the student participates and for a year afterward, because schools sometimes ask us to confirm hours. After that, we delete them.
Deleting Your Information
Write to hello@gonoteworthy.com and tell us what you want removed. A parent may ask on behalf of their child. We will confirm when it has been deleted. You do not need to give a reason.
Data Incidents
If information is ever exposed or lost, we will notify the people affected directly and explain what we are doing about it.
