Get Involved

Volunteer

Student volunteers support instrument donations, community performances, outreach, and project operations. Returning volunteers may take responsibility for instrument placement, performance coordination, or service-hour documentation.

Performances

Perform at Senior Communities

Prepare about 20 minutes of music and perform with other students at senior communities near you. Students should have playing experience. Any instrument is welcome, and no audition is required.

  • We ask performers to participate in three visits per school term.
  • Each visit takes two to three hours, including travel.
  • A parent or guardian chaperones every visit.
  • Participants under 18 need written consent from a parent or guardian.
Instrument Donations

Find and Deliver Instruments

Search listings, contact donors, and help coordinate pickups and deliveries. No musical experience is required.

  • Searching and coordination take place online.
  • Pickups and deliveries take place in person.
  • Students never move pianos. Large instruments are moved only by insured professional movers.
  • Volunteers also help with photography, writing, and the website.

Leadership

Leadership Opportunities

Returning volunteers may lead an area of the project, such as instrument placement, performance coordination, or service-hour documentation.

Coordination takes place online, on your own schedule. Performances and deliveries take place in person. The team meets twice a year: in September to assign roles and in January to review progress.
